Hospitality Uniforms – A Quick Guide

A sleek well thought out hospitality uniform is now an essential element and investment for all venues across the UK. For a country that prides itself on tourism, fine dining, café culture and both quirky and traditional pubs; venues are now looking to set themselves apart from the competition with a sleek interior style, the finest food and drinks and staff kitted out in on trend styles.

Hotels, cafés, pubs and restaurant clothing needs to be as hard working as their environments. Unlike other customer facing businesses, hospitality uniforms get a healthy work out in a busy customer-facing environment.
The hospitality sector is also looking increasingly to brand building and creating a business that is aspirational in every element of its presentation to its customers. This includes, very importantly, its uniforms, along with the interior fit-out, brand of coffee being served, the best barista and a chef who can push out the finest food. The front of house staff therefore need to be stylish, and in keeping with the investment in interior and brand values of the business.
At Staff Style we have worked closely with numerous big names within the hospitality sector   meaning we design with both quality and style in mind.

The elements we consider integral when choosing clothing for your hospitality staff are:

Functionality
When proposing a range for you we design design first and foremost with function in mind. Style is important, but if your clothing doesn’t make your job easier when on the floor serving, it will only frustrate.  Aprons are designed with large functional pouch pockets to fit notepad and pens discretely, as well as easy-tie straps, or stylish buckles closures for staff to be ready to serve your customers efficiently. They also come in a range of styles, fabrics and colours meaning you can put function first for your staff depending on your individual venue requirements.

Confidence
Staff benefit from feeling confident in their uniform. It helps with pride and to exude a cool, friendly atmosphere for your hospitality venue. We always ensure the uniforms we provide are available to fit varying sizes and body shapes. Our uniforms come in both male and female cuts with subtle design differences in shape to flatter and sit comfortably. We are always available to help with fittings and styling sessions to ensure your staff look and feel amazing. Superior Fabrics
The hospitality sector means uniforms are put through the ringer… quite literally. Regular washing after busy services is necessary to remove stains, food and alcohol odours. Regular laundering also ensures your staff look pristine with each new customer visiting your venue. Your aprons, tops and uniform accessories therefore need to be as hard-working as your team.

On Trend
We have classic hospitality uniforms covered with a large range of shirts, waistcoats and ties in colour palettes of navy, white & black sorted, but if your venue evokes a sense of on trend interior style, your uniform should compliment it. We offer uniforms in both classic and contemporary palettes. It’s important to be on trend but we still focus on creating ranges that will not date quickly, so many of our contemporary clients are currently wearing denims, greys, creams and khakis.

Branding
Branding of your uniforms is essential for two reasons. Firstly to enhance your brand awareness, and secondly to avoid getting into trouble with the tax man! Here in the UK any uniforms which are issued to staff (and the staff don’t pay for the uniform) must carry a non-detachable representation of your brand – this could be print, embroidery or tax tabbing. We can advise what is right for your uniform once we see your brand and have established what garments you are selecting for your range.
